Offshore Windfarm

One of the biggest problems with windpower is the look. Nobody wants giant towers above their houses. This is reason why homes near antennaes have low property values. This is especially a problem in small countries with high population per square mile. England is a perfect example. The solution: Offshore wind power. No need to clog up the land and create eye sores. 7.5 miles of the coast of of Kent, England a 1.2 Billion dollar wind farm was created. Thanet Offshore Wind Farm is already providing power for 200,000 homes and it is the largest wind power producer in the United Kingdom. Some even say it could be a tourist attraction.
Some people, have doubts. They don't want the water ways to be covered in man made "junk". This was a big issue in the proposed Cape Cod windfarm . One thing is for certain. Wind power will be a necessary energy of the future. Anything we can build now will help us. I don't think anyone should have a problem with a renewable energy source. What do you think? Live Green or Die

I was just suggested by a friend to change the title of the blog. Right now it's Go Green or Go Home. The suggestion was Live Green or Die. This is similar to New Hampshire's slogan Live Free or Die. If you want the new one or want to keep the old one, vote in the poll gadget on the left.

Does Biking Save Money?

A common misconception is that biking to work saves money. Lets break it down. According to answers.com the maintenance of a car is 30 cents per mile. Say you live twenty miles from work. You'd have to pay 6 dollars one way for gas, mainenance etc... Now, lets look at biking. According to bike forums you burn about 650 calories on that trip. (at a speed of twenty miles an hour). The cost of an energy bar to replenish that calorie burn would be 6 dollars (cliffbar). Once you add maintenance to the bike it is way less efficient to bike to work.

Go Outside

Want a great way to get excercise and have fun at the same time? Well, try mountain biking. It's really fun and is a great way to get connected with MN, you know, mother nature. To start off try using a full suspension bike (this will make your behind thank you). Make sure you bring along tools to fix flat tires or any breaks. Great places to ride around Dover or Sherborn are:
Rocky Woods Reservation, Dover
Noanet Woodlands, Dover
Hayle Reservation, Dover
Vietnam, Milford

Did Pollution Lead to Stranded Whales?

A humpback whale was recently stranded on a beach near the small town of Buzios (Rio de Janeiro). A towing ship arrived to pull him/her back out to sea. This is the 90th whale to be stranded in the past year. I wonder why there have been so many? Mabye the global warming or ocean pollution?
